About

Edmonton arborists, owner-led.

Trees do real work for a city: cooling yards, raising property values, and shaping a neighbourhood for decades. We started City Tree Service in 2022 to bring that long view to Edmonton’s tree care. We’re Forest Sciences grads from the U of A and ISA-certified arborists.

Our Philosophy

Tree care built for the long term.

Edmonton has one of the most significant urban canopies in North America, including roughly 100,000 mature American Elms that can’t be replaced in any reasonable timeframe. Most of our work is about keeping those trees, and the ones in your yard, alive and healthy.

Mature trees give you shade, cooling, property value, and neighbourhood character. They take decades to grow.

We find that many trees can be saved even when owners think they can’t. We look at each tree and what it actually needs: pruning, treatment, removal.

How we work

A few things we hold to.

  • A custom approach.

We find there are more options than save or remove. Some trees that look beyond saving can be brought back with structural pruning, soil work, or a multi-year recovery plan; others are better taken down, and sometimes a new tree planted. We give you a thorough evaluation to help you make the decision.

  • ANSI A300 standards.

Pruning follows ANSI A300, the professional standard that supports a tree’s structure and long-term health.

  • Honest pricing, in writing.

Detailed written quotes before work starts. If something changes on the job, we’ll check with you before making a call.

  • Straight answers.

If a tree can be saved, we’ll say so. If your tree just needs time, not treatment, we’ll tell you that too.

Edmonton

We work where we live.

Locally owned, Edmonton-based, and active across the city, heavy in mature neighbourhoods like Westmount, Glenora, Riverdale, Highlands, Strathearn, and Bonnie Doon.

Edmonton’s mature elm streets, river-valley properties, and central blocks with active infill are the trees we work on every week. We know the species, the diseases, the bylaws, and the pruning windows. We show up at community education events, talk to neighbours when work is happening next door, and write reports that hold up in front of inspectors and adjusters.
