Our Story
City Tree Service was founded in 2022 by Jordan and Andy, who met while studying Forest Sciences at the University of Alberta. After gaining years of hands-on experience with tree service companies in Edmonton and across Canada, they recognized a significant gap in the industry: a lack of educated, science-driven tree care professionals. Too often, trees were being hastily removed or poorly pruned without regard for long-term health.
By combining their academic background in forestry with practical expertise, Jordan and Andy set out to create a company that offered a higher standard of tree care—one rooted in science, ethics, and preservation. City Tree Service continues this mission today, protecting urban canopies and promoting sustainable landscapes with every service provided.

Jordan Sykes
Jordan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Edmonton’s urban forest. With extensive experience in forestry and wildfire management at various levels of government, he has a deep understanding of trees, ecosystems, and how we can help them thrive.
Beyond his technical expertise, Jordan is known for his personable nature and passion for sharing knowledge—whether it’s about trees, birds, or how to identify an edible mushroom. When he’s not working, he enjoys growing plants, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his partner and their new daughter.
Andy Fitzsimmons
Andy’s deep-rooted passion for trees and nature inspired him to become a climbing arborist in 2012. This daily proximity to trees sparked a curiosity about their biology, leading him to earn a degree in forest science from the University of Alberta. With a blend of hands-on experience and scientific expertise, he brings a well-rounded approach to tree care. When he’s not in the canopy, Andy enjoys playing music and travelling.
