What Are Elm Injections?
These trunk micro-injections are a preventative treatment designed to protect elm trees from Dutch Elm Disease. They are an excellent tool as part of an Integrated Pest Management program.
We use a biological vaccine called Dutch Trig®, which has been shown to be over 99% effective in preventing infection. It is not effective once the disease is present in the tree, or when the disease is spread through root grafts.
This is not a pesticide, insecticide, or fungicide — it works by helping the tree defend itself naturally.
Why Timing Matters
Elm injections must be applied during a very specific window in late spring:
When leaves are approximately 75% open
Typically late May to early June in Edmonton
Outside of this window, the treatment is not effective.
Because of this, we schedule all injections within a tight timeframe each year.

We have a finite amount of product available this season.

How to Get Started
Measure the trunk diameter at chest height (about 1.3 m from the ground). Measure across the trunk, not around it (diameter, not circumference!). We will remeasure before applying the injections to ensure accurate dosage.
